just needed to complain

while my family was on vacation last year, one of our pipes burst and our first floor flooded. we have AC that goes under the home, so it wasn’t standing water but we had to replace all of the AC ducts, the floors, walls, tiles. etc. insurance paid over $50k. suuuuper stressful time. we are now getting our new cost for our insurance premium for the year - it is now $4,000. (FOUR THOUSAND). up from $1,500! 😀🙃🙃

and we’re trying to find a new insurance company but of course are getting told that it’s unlikely that someone new will take us on until 5 years have passed since our claim. it’s just so crazy that we have never had anything like this happen and this freak accident comes up and it feels like you get punished for something that wasn’t your fault. it’s not like we were negligent and let all our pipes “go bad” or anything like that. AND we were trying to be very easy to work with and declined having our insurance pay for us to stay in a hotel for a month, and we just stayed on our second story until downstairs was livable. should’ve snatched that hotel offer and requested the fanciest thing we could get 😒
