questions about an aromantic/asexual connection

Hi everyone. I recently came out as asexual, and I have a friend (we’ll call him A). A and I actually met on a dating app, we hit it off great and planned a date. However, after further hanging out and getting to know each other, A is beginning to label himself as aromantic. He is not interested in a monogamous relationship (he’d, in his words, have to be “completely sure”) and is very comfortable with sex as a way of connecting with people (QPRs), but is very hesitant regarding romantic connections leading him to believe he’s aromantic. Im the opposite because I’m obviously ace and not looking to explore sex right now. Because of this, we decided to not pursue things romantically, but we’re both still catching lots of feelings for each other and I’m struggling because I keep falling harder for him every day. That being said, monogamy is one of my nonnegotiables so to speak. I’m not sure if it’s possible to get my hopes up about possibly having a relationship with him or not? I’m not completely against having sex with him one day either, but I’d need to know I was the only one he was having it with. It’s just messy.
