I'm not sure how to feel about a friend's decisions around men
I'll try to keep this as private as possible to respect the people involved. There's someone who is VERY important to me and I've loved them unconditionally my whole life. I'll refer to her as "my friend" or "X". She's a fundamental part of my life but recently has been making choices that kind of make me question if I wanna remain THAT close to her. I wanna emphasize that she is like the most important person in my life, and it's not a relationship I could simply "cut off", but I can have some emotional distance and self care.
I don't wanna come off as judgemental cause I'm not perfect AT ALL, and although our lives differentiated vastly from each other's I try to fully respect hers, but I simply don't resonate with it anymore. She keeps bringing home some bad habits from her social circles that I don't really fw.
Some thing that actually bothers me though, is that she've always had some issues with comparing herself to other women, "winning" men over and being a "side chick". I don't want to get deeply into this, because it's kind of a trauma for her, and whenever we talk about it, I fully try to help her and make her understand that she is enough and that there's no need to "win" to another woman. She seems pretty aware of it, and I love that for her, but she keeps getting into sticky situations, or dismissing her behaviour.
She has done some wild shit I kinda felt like I betrayed my own morale by supporting. I am a very loyal person and I always treat my female friends the way I would want to be treated. X, on the other hand, simply dgaf. She is completely okay with hooking up with her friend's crushes or even fuck friends "as long as they're not official", has been involved with guys in actual relationships and is VERY dismissive when a guy is into me or any other girl she knows, always circling it back to herself and sometimes even implying that they like her instead. Call me old schooled but I have girl codes, I'd never do that to my friends, and would never accept someone doing it to me- yet here I am backing her up and "understanding" her insecurities.
But what actually has me on the line is that, after we talked about this, she mentioned that a guy followed her on social media. Here comes another common friend who we'll call "Y". So yeah she notices Y follows him and X asks her who he is, to what Y responds: "please don't touch him I'm interested in him". Fast forward to a week later, X tells me she's going out 1:1 with the guy, and that Y knew and was "okay with it". I told her I wouldn't do it, simply because the guy is not her friend, they haven't even actively talked and she's not even remotely attracted to him. To prevent anything related if Y's not present, I simply wouldn't do it with a guy idgaf about. It's very hard for me to comprehend the thought proccess and the values (or lack of thereof) that gets you to do something like this, specially after we talked about it many times and X wants to consciously change it.
So yeah she did it anyway and although its classic X, I'm kinda fed up. Look I'm not saying my own set of values and loyalty are the good ones and hers is bad, but they are so opposite that it's hard for me to keep backing this up and it's getting into my trust in her. I know the dude owes nothing to Y but my set of girl codes could never bring me up to actually spend time hanging out with my friend's crush who I haven't talked with and I'm not attracted to just because, knowing it may hurt them or create an avoidable shitty situation. Like yeah this is my own brain, no everyone has the same logic and thought proccess, plus that you can still be close to people who are different, but I'd defo wouldn't want this happening to me when it becomes an actual, consistent action
