H.264/HEVC decoding on AMD GPUs in Linux (NOT AN IMPORT ISSUE)
My past post got deleted, THIS IS NOT AN IMPORT ISSUE. IT'S A HARDWARE/SOFTWARE/CONFIGURATION ISSUE. THE MEDIA IMPORTS AND PLAYS, BUT ITS LAGGY AND DOESNT USE MY GPU TO DECODE AND INSTEAD USES SOFTWARE DECODING.
I'm completely lost, i've been trying to get h.264/HEVC decoding working, and it's not. I'm using an RX 6600 XT with CachyOS (on 7.1.8 kernel) and i want to edit HEVC footage. I started using davincibox but that doesn't work too, i have the "Use hardware decoding" option enabled but it does nothing, just goes back to CPU decoding that is SUPER laggy, Render Cache doesn't work for me (As it has to re-render once anything changed, and Optimized Media takes up a ton of storage). I'm asking if it's even possible to do this, and if yes HOW?
As i mentioned before, it imports fine. My CPU is a 5950X and sadly struggles to decode 1080p h.264 with software encoding. Also i use Resolve Studio 21.
