Is Lafayette worth it for 2 days ...

I’m planning a food, nature, and local-culture trip to NOLA. I’ve been to New Orleans several times already, so this time I want to explore beyond the usual tourist stuff. I’m also thinking about spending a day or two in Lafayette, and then taking one day to go to Pensacola Beach.
For those who know the area, is Lafayette worth adding for 1-2 days? I’m especially interested in Cajun food, local culture, scenery, nature, and things that feel distinct from New Orleans.

Would you add Lafayette to this trip, or would you spend the extra time elsewhere?
