Starting a Service Desk apprenticeship with a Cyber Security qualification – any advice before I start?
I'm starting my first proper IT role soon (3-4 months because of the level of security clearance i need) through a Service Desk apprenticeship. Alongside the job I'll be working towards a Level 8 qualification in Cyber Security, and from what I understand the apprenticeship should give me a blend of Service Desk/IT experience and cyber security learning.
I have a decent background with computers and foundational knowledge of networking, Windows and cyber security through self-study, but I don't have professional IT experience yet. My customer service experience was the biggest reason I got the role.
For anyone who started in Service Desk or followed a similar route into IT/cyber, what advice would you give before starting? Anything you'd recommend focusing my time on beforehand, or opportunities I should make sure I take advantage of once I'm in the role?
Much appreciated.
