Customer was quoted about $8,000 by another company for repairs and repainting on the back of the house.
I have several years of professional interior/exterior painting experience, but I’m newer to the carpentry side of this type of work.
Scope as I understand it right now:
● Replace rotten/broken deck boards
● Replace damaged stair boards/treads
● Replace several rotten/broken pergola members overhead
● Minor wood repairs where the wood is still structurally sound
● Scrape/sand/prep the existing painted surfaces
● Spot prime bare/repaired wood
● Repaint all of the brown deck, railings, stairs, balcony, and pergola shown
● Prep/paint exterior window trim that isn’t pictured
Customer is supplying the finish paint.
I’m estimating roughly 5–7 working days solo depending on how much additional rot I find once I inspect everything closely.
I’m considering quoting around $6,000–$6,500, with any concealed structural rot or additional framing repairs treated separately if I uncover more than what’s currently visible.
For those of you who do decks/carpentry regularly: does that sound like I’m underbidding it, overbidding it, or pretty close? I’m mainly trying to make sure I’m not overlooking the labor involved in the carpentry/prep side.

$6k–$6.5k for deck repairs + repaint — am I in the ballpark?
