Just passed 200k miles on my 2009 Infiniti FX35 (RWD). I’ve stayed on top of maintenance the whole time, but recently started having a serious issue.

The ABS/VDC/brake light cluster comes on, and shortly after, my brakes lock up completely not just ABS kicking in, but full lockup where the wheel won’t release even off the pedal. It got bad enough that I had to be towed.

Took it to my mechanic, they replaced all 4 ABS wheel sensors. Worked fine for a while, but the same issue came back light on, then brakes locking up again, this time leaving me stuck on the highway shoulder.

Now it’s back at the shop. My mechanic thinks it might be the ABS control module (HCU) itself, and I know that’s the next logical step, but before I spend money on a used module + VIN programming, I wanted to see if anyone’s dealt with this specific failure pattern on the VQ35/FX35 platform.

Has anyone had a similar issue where:

**•**	Sensors were fine/replaced but the problem persisted
**•**	Brakes actually locked and stayed locked (not just ABS engaging)
**•**	It turned out to be something other than the HCU (wiring, bearings, fluid contamination, etc.)?

Any input appreciated trying to make sure I’m not throwing money at the wrong part.
