Jury duty excusal due to medical necessity?
Location: Florida
Hi! I was summoned for jury duty. I recently broke my ankle and had surgery and am in a long recovery process. My jury duty is less than a month out, and I won't be driving and will still be in physical therapy twice a week, as well as having a follow up with my surgeon the day of jury duty. My family has been taking care of me as I am not yet independent, but they cannot take off work to drive me. I also cannot afford to Uber due to being off work for months due to my ankle. Its a financial hardship to go, it's also a health hardship due to the possibility of missing my physical therapy and follow up visit with my surgeon which has to take place that week as they need follow up xrays. This could affect my long term recovery as Jury duty could be more than one day.
I explained the basics in my request to be excused due to a hardship and the judge denied it. What do I do next? Do I get a doctor's note that it will harm my health and recovery? How do I even send that in?
Any advice appreciated, thank you!
