MMC takes FMC for granted until...
Sparked by my vast enjoyment of a couple of recent reads, I'd love some recommendations for books where the MMC has taken the FMC for granted in some way, until something happens to shake him out of complacency and see her in a new light.
I just finished {The Debutante Disaster by Rachel Rowan} where the MCs had been friends in childhood, and the MMC had always displayed a colossal insensitivity to the FMCs feelings while dragging her along on his various escapades. When they meet again as adults, he tries to pick up their unequal relationship right where it'd left off.
Another kind of taking for granted happens in books like {Guilty Pleasures by Laura Lee Guhrke} and {And Then He Kissed Her by Laura Lee Guhrke}, or {The Duchess Hunt by Lorraine Heath} where the MMC has been relying on the quiet competence of the FMC as an employer while never really considering her as a human being.
I love books like this, where the MMC is forced to reckon with his own clueless arrogance and recognize the true value and worth of someone who is much more important to him than he ever realized. Humor always appreciated!
Please no infidelity, pressure to become a mistress, or non/dub con between MCs.
