Hi, I'm Yoan. I'm a developer, I play chess badly, and 18 months ago I got

tired of the same thing happening over and over: I studied an opening, I felt

like I knew it, and two weeks later it was gone.

So I built the tool I wanted. It is called OpenChess.

\*\*The idea\*\*

Spaced repetition, applied to all of chess training rather than one corner

of it. Three things get scheduled and come back at the right moment:

\- your opening repertoire, defended against the moves people actually play

  at your level

\- puzzles taken from the positions inside your own repertoire

\- the mistakes from your real games, imported from Lichess or [Chess.com](http://Chess.com)

\*\*What it is not\*\*

It is not a course, and it will not teach you chess. It assumes you already

study, and handles the part where you forget.

\*\*Where it stands\*\*

Open beta, free, no card, for about three more weeks. A few hundred people

use it. It is a solo project, so some parts are rough and I know it.

\*\*What I want from this sub\*\*

Honest feedback, especially the negative kind. If you try it and bounce off

in two minutes, that is the most useful thing you can tell me, and I would

rather hear it here than not at all.

Ask me anything about the method, the algorithm, or the build.

I built a chess trainer solo for 18 months. Here is what it is, and what it is not.
