Death Battle Takes of Varying Degrees
- The Champion's Island looking back might have been a bad idea not because of any inherent limitations of the format but because a lot of the people participating just fundamentally did not have the right headspace for a Survivor-style competition (the fact alliances get frequently labeled as 'cheating', for example)
- Asymmetrical battles are an interesting concept but I guarantee you "they only won because of their army, it would have been different if it was a 1v1" would be the default reaction this sub and the main DB one would both have basically any time the larger side won and it would make conversations annoying and repetitive.
- People shipping Geats with either Sakuya or Nero are weird given both of them have subtextual queer relationships with other women in their own series.
- The fact that the crew seem largely unaware of what Madness Combat or Sonic.exe actually is, is so bizarre to me. You run a show that has literally only existed online since I was \*ten\*. How do you not know anything about two incredibly popular and well known pieces of other internet media? This is why I still think they need to hire someone younger, or at least with a more diverse media diet than them. As much as they rag on Chad for being a boomer they're pretty evidently all varying degrees of boomer (at least, in the way they mean it).
- Liam whispering "that's literally what we asked for" under his breath when Sam dismissed the writing as a list of abilities during the at the time of writing most recent Ballot Banter was so fucking funny.
- I miss the character bits honestly, and I don't just mean the animated skits or cameos from Jocelyne, Ringmaster, or DUMMI (we literally just got the latter half, in fact, and it was great). I mean, like, little jokes and dialogue that show Wiz and Boomstick have a life outside of hosting Death Battle. Things like Boomstick's Poultry Science degree, or Wiz being married, y'know? The only times we get gags like that nowadays are either in the previews (which get removed in the full episode) or maybe if we're lucky a quick one-off throwaway line. The reference to Boomstick's daughter in Billcord changing his attitude towards MLP is great though. We need more moments like that.
- Macho Man vs Kool-Aid Man was fine. The death was maybe a little tasteless but it's nowhere near as bad as people say it is.
- I think I've said this before, but if Deadpool ever *is* going to return for a fourth episode, I feel like it has to be a match that emphasizes the more earnest, Sad Clown aspects of his character. We've had three episodes of the Wacky Zany Memepool that dominates his adaptations, it's time for Deadpool the Actual Character to shine through. This is actually why I dislike Deadpool vs Postal Dude so much, it's just another Wacky Memepool matchup.
