Would the OG Ally Extreme be a good first "console" for a 7yo?

I have an old, original Ally Z1 extreme that's been collecting dust.

I've considered getting my son a Switch 2, but I'm hesitant to spend the money if I've already got something that might work nicely.

This would pretty much always be docked / connected to a 4K OLED TV, but obviously I'd have to run most games at a lower resolution than 4K for the Ally to keep up. I'd also probably install Steam OS for ease of use to make it simple for him to boot up and get into games, rather than having to fiddle around with a desktop or big picture mode.

Would the Ally be a decent first "console"? He does very much enjoy Steam games and the games I have in my library, so he's not particularly attached to any Nintendo franchises (though I'm sure he'd like Pokemon and Mario).
