When there is a relationship between a young, fit, attractive woman and an old, out of shape, rich man: this is an example of mutual benefit, not “gold digging”.
I’m so tired of hearing women being called “gold diggers” when they’re in a mutually beneficial relationship with an older rich man. The man is gaining just as much from this arrangement as she is, as having a “hot” girlfriend or wife is a one of the biggest status symbols for men. And if you’re an old, unattractive, and poor dude why do you think you’re entitled to a beautiful young woman if you have nothing to offer her in return? That’s an uneven scale.
If you’re going to claim someone’s being used, acknowledge that they’re using each other. That’s okay if that’s the agreement between the two people. But stop singling out the woman for being “materialistic” when the man is just as much of that mindset. Or I’d argue he may be even more, because often times these women are seeking money to pay their bills or college tuitions and the man simply wants to puff his chest out to other men. Also, nobody lecture me about “personality matters more”, I agree in a typical relationship dynamic. But when it comes to this, it’s not about personality for either party.
