Help getting to Hyjal

Nostalgia
Good afternoon. WoW has haunted and followed me since the closed beta; I keep quitting with promises never to return, only to come back to the game some time later.
Ever since those days, exploring the world—which I first knew from Warcraft II—has always been my greatest pleasure. I’ve roamed all of known Azeroth, as well as areas that were off-limits at the time: I visited the dancing troll village in Darkshore, climbed Khaz Modan, and entered the Caverns of Time and other places we weren't supposed to be.

The big exception—though I still can't recall why—was wandering through Hyjal.

So, here’s the situation: I have a character at the right spot in Darkwhisper Gorge (53,83). I’ve watched a thousand videos, but I still can't quite make that final jump onto the pillar that grants access to the area.

It’s a private server running version 1.12, meaning the invisible walls that block access to Hyjal don't exist yet; from what I’ve read, the game still allows this access trick.

For those unfamiliar with it, there are countless YouTube videos explaining how to get into the area, but few are as clear and instructional as this one:

The crucial jumps happen at the 2-minute mark. I can easily pull off the first jump—the one that gets you closer to the pillar. The problem is the second one (at 2:15).
I simply cannot make that second jump, and I don't quite understand why. If I press any button—like jumping straight up or moving—my character falls, and I have to start all over again.

I’ve done a lot of research on videos and old forums and read that this second jump is impossible for Gnomes, while others say it can't be done with "short races"—which, to my dismay, might be my situation, since my character is a Dwarf. After all that, I have to ask: Has anyone actually managed to make that second jump to the pillar with a dwarf or a gnome, or is it truly impossible? If it is possible, I’d be extremely grateful for any tips.

Thanks, everyone.
