How did you get your first real users when nobody knew your product existed?

I’m building LakeDB, a desktop SQL client, mostly solo, and I’m still very early.

The product already works and I’m getting some feedback, but I’m realizing that building features is much easier than getting people to discover the project.

For those of you who started without an audience:

How did you get your first 50–100 real users?

Was it Reddit, GitHub, Product Hunt, communities, content, direct outreach, or something else?

And if your project was on GitHub, what actually helped you start getting stars organically?

I’m trying to spend less time blindly adding features and more time learning how early distribution actually works.
