Can we original back

Do you ever find yourself liking the body’s previous inhabitant more than the actual main character who takes over afterward?
Like, the original person might have been someone average or just someone genuinely interesting. Then they die for some reason, the main character gets reincarnated or transported into their body, and suddenly this person is being replaced by some condescending jerk or complete jackass who’s a experienced grandmaster or archmage or something else annoying .
Sometimes I end up thinking, “Can we get the original guy back? He sounded way more interesting than the person we’re actually supposed to follow.”
