My turn to pick next book club book.
I have to pick the next book club book and 2026 has been a bit of a reading slump for me so I’m feeling pressure to find something great!
The book club is all women in their 30s and 40s, mostly working moms. Books should be under 500 pages. We tend to like character driven books. I’d like a page turner. Please, no Lisa Jewell or Colleen Hoover or the like.
We just finished Calamity Club and I suspect everyone liked it (I’ll find out tonight). Books we’ve enjoyed in the recent past: Berry Pickers, Broken Country, North Woods, Wild Dark Shore, The Wedding People, Demon Copperhead, Project Hail Mary. Everyone loves Fredrik Backman but has pretty much read everything he’s put out. People also really like Taylor Jenkins Reed but I think many have read most of her stuff too.
We recently had a email chain about Theo of Golden and a bunch of people had read it already, the consensus seemed to be “liked it but don’t get the hype.”
Hope this gives enough to go on! I appreciate the suggestions!!
