Question for marriage
I've been dating a guy for a couple of years and he's been a sweetheart.. the issue raised when his parents asked my family for my hand for marriage.. my family is considered wealthy for generations and expect the guy to have a car and be able to furnish a house with new furniture and the basics we see very normal in the family and a bit higher than 5k for dowry as life got more expensive.. I grew up in the best private schools and went to a private university (so maybe I was a bit spoiled in money) and the guy went to public schools and had to work hard to pay for his public university studies (something i admire in him tbh) and he has issues in saving his own salaries and spend it randomly he doesn't own a car, he uses transportations.. all of that have been ok for me I really liked the guy for his personality but my family refuses marrying me off to him because they believe we will struggle financially unless he waited a couple of years and got better financially then they are OK with that, but he doesn'twant to wait till he's doing better financially.. and the real issue is his family thinks that my family is very materialistic and they want to force me into wearing a hijab and dress in the way they do (the guy himself isn't even religious).. my family had never forced me into specific dress code as long as I dress modestly.. it feels like this relationship is going into a deadend and he's been telling me that I should make my family accept him as he is and stop caring about materialistic stuff (they literally asked for him to be only cable for basics..) and I feel a bit too overwhelmed to leave him after all these years..
