Peugeot 107 A/C switch not working

Good evening,

The air conditioning switch in our Peugeot 107 (2008, urban) recently broke and would only turn on if the button was held firmly down.

I have replaced the switch this evening. The light on the new switch doesn't illuminate. However, when the button isn't pressed down, the air conditioning turns on. The when it is pressed, the air conditioning stays off.

Faulty button or does it seem more of a wiring/fuse issue?
