It’s me again with post 4 of 6 detailing my experiences and unfiltered feedback of Kerasal’s new Bare Nail collection!

### Today’s post will cover how well Kerasal’s new Cuticle Cure oil serum and Miraculous Mani strengthening cream held up in my daily routine after about 2 months of daily use.

**TL;DR:
Cuticle cure lasted longer than expected, but ultimately not long for frequent users. CC is super hydrating and perfect for travel, but the cost is high, and the applicator gets dirty after a while. Miraculous Mani is very hydrating, keeps hangnails away, and is a better value than other options.**

# Cuticle cure:
To briefly recap my [initial thoughts](https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditLaqueristas/s/LMsSPa0L1R) on Kerasal’s Cuticle Cure, it is *very* hydrating, absorbs quickly, and smells good, but I worried about how long it would last. It lasted longer than I expected with daily use, running out around 6 weeks, but I was also intentionally only using it 1-2x a day so it wouldn’t run out too quickly, and using my regular nail oil the rest of the time, or for any soaks. I could see Cuticle Cure being good for people who don’t need to oil more than once or twice a day, or as a super-hydrating boost in addition to other oils, but for someone like me, it just isn’t an economical option unfortunately.

I also thought I (mostly) liked the applicator head initially, but it did get discolored and dirty after a few weeks despite always applying it on recently washed hands. With refillable nail/cuticle oil pens that can be taken apart, you can also soak and wash the brushes or applicators, but this isn’t currently possible with CC unfortunately.

I did happen to do a lot of airplane travel during the 6 weeks I was testing Cuticle Cure, and it really was very convenient for travel specifically due to how light-weight it goes on, how quickly it absorbs, its less messy than other oil and applicator combos, and its **very** hydrating. I could see keeping it in my travel bag, but I couldn’t afford to stash a dozen of them around my house or use it as liberally as I do my regular oil pens.

Other than being noticeably more hydrating and faster at dispersing through the nail plate than jojoba oil alone, I couldn’t say if it made an overall difference in my nail and skin health as I was already a religious oiler, but it did seem to make it easier to manage my usual dry skin from airplane travel and gives an immediate hydration “boost”.

### Kerasal cuticle cure Q&A recap

- Can the cuticle serum be refilled? If so, will refill bottles be available at some point?
    - “At this time our Cuticle Serum is not refillable but this is an amazing idea that has most certainly been passed off to the team!”
- What can you tell us about the current fragrance for those who may be sensitive to certain ingredients?
    - “Regarding fragrance, we included lavender as part of the overall sensory experience of the serum.”
- Any plans to offer other fragrances, or fragrance-free options?
    - “We completely understand that fragrance and essential oils aren't for everyone and will also share this feedback with the team.”

# Miraculous mani:
I suspected I was going to like Miraculous mani as soon as I [started using it](https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditLaqueristas/s/VQTrIc5ONd), and it did not disappoint. It will definitely replace the product I was using in my regular rotation from now on! 

With the strengthening cream I was previously using, I would usually use up a bottle every ~4 weeks, and while MM is 2x the volume, I’ve been using it daily for 8 weeks already and there is still a good amount left. Normally I only do strengthening creams at night since they tend to be heavier, but Miraculous mani is surprisingly lightweight for such a hydrating formula, so I found myself actually using it during the day occasionally as well. Despite using it more often, it’s still easily lasting longer than other creams I’ve tried and the results seem totally comparable!

In my initial feedback post I talked about how I gauge whether or not a strengthening cream really works, and based on those metrics, Miraculous Mani seems to work just as well, if not better, while costing less and producing less waste. In two months of using it, I haven’t had any new hangnails form or splits along the sidewalls, and the one large persistent sidewall hangnail I still have left to grow out from my skin-picking days appears to be softening and shedding again after a long plateau. So MM seems to be doing a great job!

**I was *so* happy with how well MM was working that I decided to run a little experiment a few weeks in.** I’m a recovering skin-picker who chewed my nails and the skin around them raw for 30+ years, and while my nail beds have lengthened (and narrowed) significantly since I quit chewing the corners of my fingers off haha, my worst nails still have a ways to go before (if) the hyponychium will extend all the way to the edge of my fingertips, as it has on most of my other nails now. With previous strengthening creams I had tried packing cream under clean nails a few nights a week to encourage the damaged skin to heal and the nail bed to reattach/grow out, but it actually seemed to have the opposite effect of making the hyponychium too soft and therefore easily pulled away from the nail plate with normal use of my hands. But I decided to try again with Miraculous Mani, packing it generously under the nails a few times a week before bed, and after a month, it appears the stubborn areas that had been stuck in a growth plateau for about a year now are finally starting to grow out again! I’m not sure why it’s working with MM and not the other products I tried, but I suspect it’s because MM is less occlusive than the heavier creams so it isn’t trapping moisture against the hyponychium.
