Chaotic weird girl lit fic with first person narration, that isn’t fantasy or historical fiction

Weird Girl Lit

Recently I’ve so been craving one of those books with a messy/weird/morally grey/questionable-decision-making female main character. I feel like I’ve already read most of the commonly recommended ones, and that the ones I haven’t gotten around to involve a lot of fantasy or magical realism or historical fiction (which is great! Just not what I’ve been in the mood for lately).

I especially love books with a close first person narration where it almost feels like we’re reading a diary, where we’re in on every thought and detail in the main character’s life.

Off the top of my head, some examples that I’ve loved a lot that I’m searching for a similar vibe to:

- My Year of Rest and Relaxation & Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh
- Milk Fed & The Pisces by Melissa Broder
- Boy Parts by Eliza Clark
- Perfume and Pain by Anna Dorn
- Luster by Raven Leilani
- The Guest by Emma Cline
- Sky Daddy by Kate Folk
- Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead by Emily Austin
- Bunny by Mona Awad
- The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
- Yellowface by R.F. Kuang
- Big Swiss by Jen Beagin
- Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters
- A Good Person by Kiersten King
- Animal by Lisa Taddeo

Thanks in advance for any recs <3
