Ending of Friendships

Has there ever been an ending of a friendship for you wherein the two of you talked together about the ending of your friendship - kind of like when a couple breaks up?

Or have you or the other person just stopped talking, kind of like, "If I just don't call, get in touch, etc., the other person will get the hint" and the friendship fades away?

Curious how your friendships have ended, especially at our over60 age when the, "I'm getting too old for bullshit anymore" comes into play.
