Getting divorced at 58 after I just retired. Big financial decisions loom.

I recently retired after closing my business of 30+ years. My wife went from part time to full time so we'd still have income during the transition and also low cost health insurance. We were in excellent financial health with a house worth around $2M that's paid off and something like $12M in retirement, non-qualified investments and cash. We've been having relationship trouble for a few years (not related to money) and unfortunately after trying to save the marriage we've decided that we can't. We've been married for 30 years.

The divorce will be amicable. We're splitting all the assets 50/50. I want to keep the house so after all is said and done I'll have the house plus $5M. I know that's still a huge amount of money but since I'm only 58 I'm worried about my financial future and questioning everything. I'm disabled and may quality for SSDI (and have applied) which would certainly help but I'm not counting on that. I could sell the house or let her have it and buy something less expensive and have maybe $1M more in investments (and probably lower monthly costs) but that's my least desirable option.

I know my situation isn't particularly sympathetic given my assets but from the inside looking out it's very stressful. Besides the personal upheaval, being in this situation with no job and possibly a tough time finding a well paying job has me massively stressed.

I'd love to hear some feedback and suggestions on what people think about my financial situation and if keeping the house is a bad idea or anything else I should do or not do. Logically, I feel like I'll be okay but my churned up guts say otherwise.

Thanks in advance!
