Training update — 4 weeks out from Beantown
A few people from my last post asked to see whether I could actually hold marathon pace in longer runs, so here’s the update.
Two 80-mile weeks in the books, with the focus being on building durability and getting more comfortable around goal MP.
Week 1
Long run: 21 mi @ 7:07/mi, progressing 7:37 → 7:08 → 6:37
Workout: 10 × 1K, averaging around 5:38/mi
Week 2
Long run: 21 mi — 12 @ 7:39, then 9 continuous @ 6:23
Workout: 14 Miles Total
2.3 mi warm-up @ 8:09/mi
6 mi Continuous:
(1 mi @ 6:23/mi
3 mi @ 6:01/mi
2 mi @ 6:17/mi)
2.1 mi recovery @ 8:09/mi
4 mi @ 6:22/mi Continuous
The biggest goal was seeing if I could start holding pace late in longer runs, and I feel like that’s coming along.
Four weeks to go. Sub-2:50 is still the goal.
For everyone who gave their opinion last time — has this changed your thoughts on my chances?
