When selling a car back to the dealership do they send a check to your bank or do they give you the check to send it to them ?

Okay so, if I wanted to sell my vehicle that I owed 1500 on and the dealership gave me 1600, would they send the check of 1500 to the bank or would they give me the check of 1600 to give to the bank?
