Advice

In 8 months of applying to what feels like a couple hundred job applications, I’ve successfully landed 2 interviews. One internally and one at Amazon. Both interviews did not go past the first round, which is just a sign that I should have been better prepared.

I recently received an online MBA that was fully paid for by my employer. I have a BS in biological sciences. For the last couple years I had been working in customer service and grinding through the corporate ladder to escape the call center environment. If you have ever worked a call center you know the struggle. I’ve been dreaming of pivoting into tech for years now, but it just felt like that ship had sailed for me.

Thankfully I am currently a program manager but I just lack the depth or experience, or technical skills to really leverage that. I am not sure what to do right now. I’ve considered going back to school for a technical degree in stats or data science, but I feel like that just moves my timeline even more.

What advice can you give? Is breaking into tech out of the question, should I figure out how to pivot into finance. The new age of AI along a very shaky job market has me in an almost paralyzes. I want to press the reset button but fear that I maybe too late in my career. I technically fall under mid career territory. Can I still break into tech/fintech?
