A Question For SoCal Firefighters

Hey,

I currently just finished my Fire Academy in Houston with HCC. (TCFP Certified as well). I’m heading to EMT school with HCC (best EMT school in Texas) this Monday to finish Basic. I do plan on getting my paramedic right after getting hired on with HFD (they seem pretty optimistic about my chances).

My question would be what is the likelihood of someone like me, who hopefully would have a year of service by this time and a paramedic, getting hired on with somewhere in SoCal? (San Diego area)

Respectfully, I’d like to get on with Oceanside, Chula Vista or really any other department that isn’t SDFD. (The pay).

Any advicee?
