First sewing project to teach my boyfriend

I have been sewing since age for almost as long as I can remember. I told my boyfriend I would teach him to sew. He wants to learn some basic stitches he can use to clothing repair. What's a good started project I can use to teach him multiple stitches? I was thinking a little pouch or something.

EDIT Hand sewing only please and projects we can to together, like I make one and he makes one. Something we can do on a date night have something cute after
