Medical Application with achieved grades, do I remark with AAA?? - I am begging ANYONE for advice!!!
Received my A-Level results this morning! AAA in biochemsocio, aswell as an A in psychology I took with my GCSE's. Feeling a bit disappointed at the lack of A (WJEC board, meaning only A2 papers count towards A*, and of which I was TWO marks off)
i'm a home educated student throughout my GCSES (999998888) and A-Levels, never had a tutor and have self studied the whole thing. Finished my 3 A-levels in 1 year (year 11). I'm applying to medicine for 2027 entry and I have a bunch of questions, so any advice at all would be ever so helpful!
- First of all, how much will medical schools disadvantage me for not having any A*?
I'm not looking to apply to anywhere that requires an A*, only those with minimum entry AAA (my first choice is Cardiff). Will an A*AA candidate be chosen over me if the stats are the same? Is it worth paying £90 to remark my paper and potentially get the A? Do the A* students get accepted more often into these unis, for example Manchester, or are they weighted the same?

Secondly, will I have a disadvantage (or perhaps an advantage?) for completing both years in one year? Do unis care? Am I disadvantaged because I did them at home/self directed? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!!

Another question is, what are the most strategic Universities that I can apply to? I desperately just want an offer - I don't really care about going somewhere prestigious. I'm averaging 2100-2200 UCAT, (which is in 2weeks), all 8s and 9s in 9 GCSES, achieved A-Levels of AAAA, home schooled, UK (Wales), with 40hours of GP shadowing so far. Any advice would be appreciated!!

And last of all, what are my chances of succeeding.. this one is a bit of a silly question, but I feel like I haven't done enough, and everyone around me is a much more competitive applicant. Do I really have a chance in this? Feel free to ignore this question xx
TL;DR do A* matter when min entry requirements for med are AAA, do uni's care how long you take to study A-Levels?
