Why won’t my Amazfit Bip 5 Core’s GPS work without my phone being nearby?

I have been trying for a few hours now but nothing I have tried works. The GPS button only turns green and activates when my phone has Bluetooth on and is nearby, but when I try to get GPS working on the watch without my phone it stays red forever without an error message or anything. Today during a Cross Country run, I connected my watch’s gps to my phone and left my phone with my bag while I ran, and it completely screwed up the data when I exported the run to Strava. It seems like my watch will only use my phones GPS and not its own. If anyone knows what I could do to fix this, I would appreciate it immensely.
