Raspberry Leaf CO2 Wax (Total)

Here’s an interesting material.

The process was 10:1, ethanol:wax. I broke the wax into small pieces, placed in a glass bottle and then gently broke them more. Allowed to macerate 24 hours, gently mashed the wax further, then macerated another 24 hours. Chilled in freezer 30 minutes and then filtered 3 times with 2 layers of standard coffee filter. (it was bleached but I don’t think it affected the smell). I got lucky and the wax dissolved well and was close enough to completely exposed to the ethanol. (other waxes I have tried were hard as stone and don’t seem to dissolve)

Allowed to mature for a month but this did not seem to make a significant difference.

This is how I find it interesting: the opening is fresh! Quite bright, light, lightly green, and to me also terpenic. I diluted some to 0.1% and added a trace to a formula I work on. Made the opening awesome and I was glad for that.

Its heart reminded me of an old Twinings tea with real raspberry. Light tea with acidy REAL raspberry flavor. Even a super-light hint of jasmine.

The dry-down smelled of dried grape (not necessarily raisin) and I like it on its own but in the end that was something I didn’t want in the dry-down of the formula I added it to. The website listed this material as a base and it is clear in the dry-down that it is deep, rich and lasting.

Very potent material, a gram could last a lifetime. I bet it can be magnificent with tobacco and/or leather.

I won’t mention the company because the Raspberry Leaf wax was a free sample they sent me and the material I actually bought… I think it was mislabeled Was supposed to be green tea but it smelled like a powdered flower and nothing reminiscent of green tea leaves lol. I’m sure the trusted companies offer this somewhere, maybe even in varying fractions.

Anyway, I didn’t see any threads about exactly this material from a quick search so I thought I’d leave a thread.
