Yes your 'preference' is bigoted
TW: racism and homophobia
Idk why this is actually being discussed so much or if the algorithms are pushing it to me but I just saw another conversation on women who won't date bi men and all the comments saying 'its not homophobic to have a preference' and 'why is there an agenda to force women to date bi men' π . People really really hate realizing that their preferences are rooted in bigotry. Whether it's a racial preference or not wanting to date bisexual or trans people, it is almost always rooted in bigotry.
When you ask people why, they say 'its just a preference ' but when you dig into it there is fundamentally some assumption that is being made about an entire group of people. You just are'nt attracted to black people? What is the physical feature that all black people have that you are specifically not attracted to?? What is it about your boyfriend having previously dated a man or being born in a different body that is unattractive to you??
It's so tiring, people can date whoever they want but it seems like people are so afraid of being considered bigoted that they refuse to acknowledge that their preferences are rooted in a certain place. It's ok to be dealing with it. We have all internalized things and there is nothing gained by pretending otherwise.
I shave my legs and wear makeup and worry about my weight and I know that there is internalized sexism and fatphobia that is a part of that. I care about my physical appearance cus Ive been taught to and because people treat me a certain way depending on how I look. We live in a society or whatever ππ
