Being with someone who's still in the closet sucks..

My GF and I have been together for 3 years. She wants to see me literally every night. She's so loving when we're alone. She always wants to make plans. I know she loves me. But after 3 years, she doesn't want anyone to know. I'm out and she's still in the closet. I always feel like she's ashamed of me. I can't show her any love or affection when we're in public. She's always paranoid people are onto us. But when we're alone, she's totally different. I've spoken to her about this many times and she tells me she understands but nothing changes.

I love her to bits and I don't wanna lose her. But it hurts sm knowing she's not proud of me. Has anyone else been in this situation?
