UBC Tuition Fees…

Discussion

Just had a peek at the charges for my term one tuition and realized that some of the charges are quite… extraordinary…

You’re telling me that I have to pay $216.45 for a single semester for Athletics when it doesn’t even include the gym and I’m likely not going to swimming or participating in any outdoor activities when it frosts up in the winter.

Don’t know what the Capital Projects Fund is.

A charge for a new recreation centre.

And a whole smorgus board of charges that seem to be ripping students off— for things they don’t benefit from.

Obviously, I believe the charges for student support programs and similar programs are absolutely necessary even when they don’t directly benefit me.

I’m more concerned about the unreasonable prices for facilities I don’t think a majority of students use/benefit from.

Please correct me if I’m incorrect, I understand the importance of funding the school and its facilities… but at this price? (And local)
