Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone who has recently gone through the new BACB portal (2026) can clarify something for me.
I recently failed my BCBA exam and am preparing for my retake. I also need to request testing accommodations, specifically additional testing time.
I understand that with the new BACB portal, examination accommodations are now submitted within the certification/retake application. rather than through the old separate accommodation submission process.
Here is where I’m confused:
When I open my. BCBA Examination Retake Application**, the accommodation request is included within the application. I completed the accommodation section and uploaded my documentation, and it now shows **“Pending.”**
However, I have **NOT submitted the actual retake application yet**, because I don't want to submit the entire retake application if the accommodation request can somehow be submitted separately.
I emailed BACB to ask how I should proceed, and this is the response I received:
“Thank you for contacting the BACB regarding your testing accommodations request. If you need to change, cancel, or obtain further information regarding your testing accommodations request, please submit an inquiry through the Accommodation Request Form for further instructions. It may also be helpful for you to visit our Portal Knowledge Base…”
So now I’m even more confused because I don't see a separate option in my portal to **submit an accommodation request**. The accommodation section is inside my retake application, and the only thing I have done so far is complete it and save it. It shows Pending.
My question
Does “Pending” mean that my accommodation request has already been submitted to BACB for review, even though I have NOT submitted my entire retake application?**
Or do I have to submit the entire retake application** in order for BACB to actually receive/review the accommodation request?
I also understand that I should not schedule my Pearson VUE exam until BACB has reviewed the accommodation request and given me instructions.
If anyone has gone through the **new 2026 BACB portal** and requested accommodations for a BCBA retake, could you please tell me exactly what you did?
Especially if you remember:
Whether you had to submit the entire retake application

What your accommodation status showed

Whether “Pending” meant BACB had received it

Whether you received a separate email from BACB after submitting

I would really appreciate hearing from someone who has actually gone through the new process. Thank you!
