Ohio ID with Pending I-485: My Experience with SAVE Verification

I got my Ohio ID using a pending I-485 at the Kenny Road BMV in Columbus, so I figured I'd share my experience since I couldn't find many Ohio-specific posts about it.

For reference, my husband renewed his REAL ID driver's license, while I applied for a standard Ohio ID. We both have pending I-485s. His visa was still valid, while mine had already expired.

The documents I brought were:

• Passport
• Previous Ohio ID
• I-485 receipt notice
• I-765 receipt notice
• I-94
• Two proofs of Ohio residency

The employee was very nice and patient. They took their time reviewing the documents and even called another employee to double-check some information.

They processed my husband's application first. His SAVE verification was approved while they were working on mine, so he was able to get his REAL ID driver's license without having to wait.

Mine needed additional SAVE verification. About 9 days after my BMV visit, SAVE showed that the case had been returned to the agency. I didn't have to do anything else or go back to the BMV. I received my Ohio ID in the mail about 19 days after my original visit.

Overall, the process was pretty straightforward. I don't see many posts about getting an Ohio ID with a pending I-485, especially when SAVE needs additional verification, so hopefully this helps someone in the same situation.
