Lazy Character development?

End of season one and I still don't know the deal with the slime guy or anyone else really. like zarieth apparently had to be taking this drug the whole time, and we only know because his hot sister from another dimension brought it up in passing and then the narrator went on a brief tangent about how he's been taking it the whole time and they just move on??? Alan had to go to hell for us to know he was some noble the whole time, and after they kill the family member that sold his soul (still a fun episode) they just go right back to it. we still don't know anything about blowakins backstory like who his master was or what he was up to when alive, we don't know where stanko came from. its like these guys are just semi interesting silhouettes made just to be put in fun adventures. I also think that moment Link said "I wont lock in till we eat" before passing out on a couch in the church for the whole episode was really out of place. (he got sold to that fat crime dude and it doesn't seem like anyone cares? what was up with him anyway he came out of nowhere!)

Do I just not get it? am I missing something all 6 people who I know watch this show say its the best but honestly it seems pretty underdeveloped...like his maps
