Hey dad, my marriage is making me anxious and feel like I'm walking on eggshells
28F here. Married to my husband. It's not all gloom and doom because he does have his great moments. But he has some anger issues and sometimes says things that I know a normal partner shouldn't say to their wife.
For example, one time, when we were taking our son to daycare, I didn't screw the cap on our son's water bottle tight enough, and it leaked. I know that was my fault but he was livid and told me to "kill myself"--which I know is objectively a big overreaction, since the daycare has extra water that can be used to refill the water bottle.
Another time, I was in the car with his mom and our son (son was 2 years old at the time of the incident). There are two different routes that I can potentially take to get home from daycare. My son wanted me to take a certain route but I chose to take a different route (I wasn't as familiar with the route my son wanted). Our son wasn't happy and fussed about it on the way home, but my husband's mom was livid because she thought I should have taken the route our son wanted. But when we got home, my son forgot about it and played with his toys. I thought things were more or less ok because I got home safely. But then when my husband came home, his mom complained about me not taking the route that my son wanted, and my husband sided with his mom, and yelled at me. My husband said I was "abusing" our son for not taking the route he wanted. I was so angry for this that I ended up leaving the house for 3 hours and seriously considered staying in a hotel that night. I thought this was bullshit because my husband and his mom were making a much bigger deal about it than my son.
I am now 12 weeks pregnant with our second child. I am worried our issues will get worse.
It's gotten to a point I started voice recording him every time he says something fucked up. I don't like that I'm doing this, but if I ever decide to leave, I at least want a paper trail of evidence that I know can be used in family court.
