Should you sign up for a credit card in your 20s?

Just opened a new debit card, got a call recently from a bank representative offering to show me their credit card options as well. My only parent passed away recently so I have nobody to ask this advice from. Is a credit card worth it? I’m wondering how necessary they are? I have a decent amount of savings and working on more income currently.
