Selling parts that were removed from my vehicle - can others "recode" them?

Hi All,
Been going through a pile of things I need to dispose of and I came across an old part that was installed in an old Octy vRS I owned. I cannot remember the exact reason - however the part in question needed to be upgraded to a newer revision as I wanted to have something retro fitted to the car. I've got "MFSW" in my head, original part didn't support it, newer revision did.

Anyway, fast forward and I've got Skoda part:
5KO.953.569.C
In a box. This was removed from the car, so was obviously coded to that vehicle. I see these can sell for around £40 on eBay, so seems worth putting it up to shift it.
Anyone who buys this would be able to recode this for whatever vehicle right? These aren't coded to an original car and then cannot be transplanted into another?
