Getting cats to eat pills?

I'm trying to get my cat to take gabapentin since he gets super stressed before vet visits. I've tried hiding it in pill pockets, mixing it in with wet food and churrus, I've tried manually opening his mouth and putting in the pill. I've opened the capsules and sprinkled the meds on the above. But the little guy refuses to take the pills. Any suggestions?
