Is this emotional abuse or am I overreacting?
- Raises voice & shouts at me daily
- Tries controlling everything I eat (says to stop eating animal products and all my problems and aches and pains will go away)
- Says I’m manipulative and lying and “full of bs”
- Dismisses emotions; say it’s because I didn’t get enough sleep or exercise
- Happy one moment, angry and shouting next. If my mom and I get along really well one day, I have to be careful for the next day because it won't last
- Say I do nothing for the household (I clean up after meals every day, do dishes, and the wipe tables)
- Says “all I do is spend my time on you and your sister, you need to stop thinking of yourself” “I do so much for you” “You’re so ungrateful”
- Buys my sister skincare/clothing gifts and spends hundreds on sports camps, yet prevents me from buying anything
- If I ask mom a question bc I want to understand why my mom is mad at me, she says to quit it and leave her alone because I'm being 'passive aggressive'
- Screams at me for always being late when she’s the last one in the car
- Uses phone and computer at dinner table but doesn’t let us
- Thinks I’m manipulative when I cry
- Laughs with my sister about her sport and ignores me when I’m upset
- Talks exclusively to my sister 24/7 about her sport
- When I ask mom and sister to have a volleyball conversation later or lower the volume of the aux, my mom tells me to “Stop controlling the environment”
- I have been abandoned by 'friends' each time, even after changing schools 4x. My mom insists I was doing something to make them like that and “stepping on their toes.”
- Goes through my phone a few times a year, insisting that I’m hiding something
- I’m always apologizing
- I told my mom: I’m happy that when I start driving, mom will have more time to herself. She told me that it sounds backhanded and passive aggressive.
- My mom brought up that she could work with me since she’s there anyways, and I agreed and said it was a good idea. She then started lecturing me on how ‘I don’t think she has a real job’ and that ‘I think I’m her equal’
- I open up to mom that I’m insecure about gaining weight and that I’m struggling with BED and she brushes it off with “You’re still skinnier than you used to be” then proceeds to talk about how me saying that belittles overweight people in the family (her)
- It took me over a year to get a psychiatrist and 2 years to get a therapist, and only after the psychiatrist called my mom and told her I needed to see one.
Please let me know your thoughts. I'm so sorry if I'm overreacting, it just has caused me so much stress
