Learning to do tasks by myself

Transitions and Change

This basically started after a personal conversation with my mom

Given it's nature, I will only reveal that she told me that I was dependent on tasks such as taking my medications and needing food

Growing up I was never given chores, which allowed me to focus on school. But the flipside was I didn't learn independent tasks

So, I'm now making a genuine attempt at changing that so I can somewhat take care of myself

So far:

~ After waking up, I scoop all 4 litter boxes

~ If I find the floor is too dirty for my liking, I will clean as much of it as I can (mop too if I can)

~ I've started washing my own dishes (most of the time)

~ I take my supplements and separate my night medications ahead of time so I have them ready when it's bedtime

~ I've learned to make coffee (though I find that it doesn't do anything for me and I'm not a fan, so I stopped drinking it)

~ I've learned to make myself a banana milkshake

~ set a "sleeping schedule" on my phone so I am automatically locked out of apps that might keep me awake at night

I should learn how to cook, I especially want to learn how to make rice (with a pot, we don't have a rice cooker)

I also want to learn to do my own laundry, but my grandma said that will have to wait until she has the time to teach me (and I guess to also try to wait for a sunny day since we don't have a drying machine)

And my mom asked me if I wanted to learn how to drive because she found this place that teaches people that are specifically neurodivergent/anxious (I had avoided learning because even being a passenger makes me anxious)

I can't live fully independently, I am painfully aware of that and have been for years

But I at least want to be semi-independent if possible
