Witcher 3 after Crimson Desert

So I know I’m in the minority, but I have been trying to play the Witcher 3 after I put 300 hours into Crimson Desert and I think CD ruined all open world games for me.

Is the Witcher 3 really that good? I find it tough to get into after the first few missions. Is there a part where it hooks you? I know CD took a little time. I’m sure the story is 1000 better than CD but it seems like Witcher is a normal hack and slash am I wrong? Where does it shine?
