Who Is Showing Up for Lindsay Clancy?

You know how people showed up outside the courthouse every single day during the Karen Read trial rallying, holding signs, making noise, and making sure she knew she wasn’t standing alone?

Why aren’t we doing that for Lindsay Clancy?

Watching this case unfold, I don’t see a mother who deserves to be reduced to the worst moment of her life. I see a mother whose mental health was deteriorating, who repeatedly sought help, and who appears to have been catastrophically failed by the very system that was supposed to recognize how sick and vulnerable she had become.

You can grieve those three beautiful children with your entire heart while still asking hard questions about what happened to their mother before that tragedy.

Supporting Lindsay does not mean minimizing the unimaginable loss of Cora, Dawson, and Callan. It means believing that postpartum psychiatric illness, mental-health treatment failures, medication management, and a mother’s mental state matter when determining criminal responsibility.

I would love to see people peacefully rally around this mom throughout this trial not to interfere with justice, but to demand that justice actually consider the whole story.

Signs. Shirts. Flowers. Mental-health advocates. Mothers standing beside mothers.

Because if the evidence shows that Lindsay was profoundly psychiatrically ill and failed by the systems she turned to for help, that story deserves to be heard just as loudly as the prosecution’s.

How do we organize something like this for Lindsay? Because I know I cannot be the only mother watching this trial thinking: someone needed to save her, too.
