What did the hype of skyrim cause people to do in your area?

I was discussing with a coworker of mine when skyrim was coming out and what we remembered. My coworker remembers the lining up. The main thing I remember is so many people requesting time off managment cut it off. Im feeling very nostalgic tonight.
