Advice on Loan to Pay off Credit Card
Hi all,
New here. Due to a series of unfortunate financial decisions, I find myself here. The long and short of it is, I entered a debt repayment program for a bunch of credit cards about 3 years ago. Due to not paying on the credit cards that I owed (the only way for the debt repayment program to work)I’m now being sued by a major bank and they want their money asap.
The only way for me to pay it off is if I take out a loan. I found a loan and was approved if I put a lien on my car. Essentially the deal is, they would pay off the car (refinance the car) and give a remaining balance of $12k to use on the credit cards. It sounds nice in theory, but I need about 18k to pay everything off. So this doesn’t resolve my credit card debt.
The debt repayment program said that the minimum they would need is 11k to get it in a good place, but the APR is a higher % than what I’m currently paying for my car so it’s not a great deal as far as refinancing my car goes. I haven’t had much luck in finding a company that doesn’t use my vehicle as collateral.
Wondering if anyone knows of a good company that offers personal loans or should I just take this deal and be grateful that I can at least pay off a portion of my credit card?
