Why does nearly every guy have a preference for a fair skin

I have seen multiple profiles all over the marriage apps. Where the guy normally south asian or Afghan states they want to sister from an Arab/turkish/European background. While completely ignoring their own ethnicity

It’s obviously because these ethnicities are perceived to be lighter skinned. These men know nothing about the culture, not bothered to study it. Buy hide behind saying I like exploring new cultures?
