RAM overclocking

I am using asrock a320m/ac motherboard in my pc and I have 32 GB (2x16) DDR4 3200 MHz RAM installed. Bt ram speed is in default mode. I want to overclock and checked the ASRock website, and the motherboard claims it can be overclocked to 3200. So I tried to overclock and failed. After changing the speed, it starts rebooting and fails to turn on pc though it has power, but the CPU fan stops working.
Is it really possible to overclock the RAM? Also bios is updated to the latest version.
